Meet our Center Physicians
Medical Director: Dr. Steven Katzman
Dr. Katzman received his medical degree from Des Moines University in 1990 and is consistently recognized as one of the top doctors in metro Detroit by HOUR Detroit magazine in internal medicine and palliative care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Katzman was lead investigator for a vaccine trial.
His career includes decades of experience with Corewell Health, which includes time as Chief of Staff at Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital, and as an associate professor at Michigan State University. Dr. Katzman has also served on several boards, including with the American Diabetes Association, Blue Care Network Credentials Committee and Oakland County Osteopathic Medical Association.
When he isn’t working, Dr. Katzman enjoys spending time with his children, traveling and playing poker!
Eastpointe Center: Dr. Elizabeth Dowers
Dr. Dowers has a degree in osteopathic medicine from Michigan State University. She served her residency at the Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in the emergency department and has worked as an emergency medicine physician for the John D Dingell VA Hospital and the St. Jospeh Health System.
Dr. Dowers is also a member of various medical associations including the Emergency Medical Resident Association, American College of Emergency Physicians and American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians.
In her free time, Dr. Dowers enjoys listening to classical and jazz music. She also enjoys cheering on the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Red Wings and Pistons!
Sterling Heights Center: Dr. Sean Drake
Dr. Drake received his M.D. from the University of Michigan School of Medicine in 1999 and completed an internal medicine residency at the Birmingham Hospital through the University of Alabama. He currently services as a Clinical Associate Professor at the Wayne State University School of Medicine.
Dr. Drake worked in Henry Ford Hospital’s General Internal Medicine department for over 20 years and has held many committee appointments at the hospital throughout his career.
In his free time, Dr. Drake volunteers in the fundraising efforts of the Avondale Theater Company and Henry Ford Hospital’s “Men Who Cook” event.
Detroit and Pontiac Centers: Dr. Kelita Fox
Dr. Fox, a Toronto native, received her MD from Wayne State University in 2010. She specializes in family medicine.
Her career has spanned academic and community settings including the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Mount Sinai Downtown Family Medicine Program in New York City, Rochester Regional Health in Rochester, NY, and Henry Ford Health Family Medicine in Detroit.
A fun fact about Dr. Fox is that she played on the Wayne State University Women’s Volleyball team!
Southfield Center: Dr. Hem Prabha Mohindra
Dr. Mohindra received her degree from Government Medical College in India and served her residency at Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital in Detroit. She has practiced medicine in Michigan since the 1970s.
Her career includes roles with Corewell Hospital in Royal Oak, Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, Henry Ford Greenfield Health System and Trinity Health Livonia.
Dr. Mohindra has published research on cancer and kidney failure, with her work on breast cancer receiving an award from Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital.
Clinton Township Center: Dr. Gerohnda Rushton
Dr. Rushton received her MD from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a Geriatric fellowship at the Michigan State University – Flint campus through Hurley Medical Center.
She’s been a practicing geriatrician for seven years and is a board-certified Family and Geriatric Medicine physician. As a resident, Dr. Rushton trained in Norton, Viginia at the Ballad Health System. Her undergraduate degree is from Wayne State University.
Dr. Rushton has a special passion for elder care and is an expert on Geriatric syndromes and end-of-life care. Outside of her work with PACE Southeast Michigan, she loves to teach medical students, residents and fellows about the importance of Geriatric Medicine.
